Here is what happens at your first appointment, what to wear, and how the cost works.
Your first visit, step by step
About an hour, no surprises, and nothing decided without you.
We talk first
You tell us where it hurts, when it started, what makes it worse, and what you want to get back to doing.
A hands-on exam
We check how your spine, hips and shoulders move, test strength and reflexes, and refer for imaging only when the result would change your care.
Treatment, if it is safe today
Most first visits include treatment. Adjustments are optional; we use gentle, low-force techniques if you would rather not be cracked.
A plan with an end date
You leave with two or three exercises, how many visits we expect, and what they cost with your insurance. No prepaid packages.
Before you arrive
We send a short health history form by text or email after you book. Please fill it in before your visit if you can, or arrive 10 minutes early and complete it at the front desk.
Bring:
- Your photo ID
- Your health insurance card, if you have one
- A list of any medications you take
- Any recent imaging reports, such as X-ray or MRI results
At your visit
- A conversation. Where it hurts, when it started, what makes it better or worse, and what you want to get back to.
- Exam. We check how you move, test strength, reflexes and sensation, and gently examine the joints and muscles involved.
- Your diagnosis. We explain what we think is going on, with a spine model if it helps, and whether chiropractic care is the right fit.
- Treatment. If it is safe to start today, we do. You choose whether that includes adjustments or gentler techniques.
- Your plan. How many visits we expect, what you can do at home, and what it will cost with your insurance.
Paying for care
We are in network with most major Idaho health plans and bill them directly. We check your chiropractic benefits before your first visit and tell you your cost per visit. If you do not have insurance, our self-pay rate is posted at the front desk and on the phone, with no packages or contracts.

Common questions
How long is the first appointment?
Plan for about an hour. That covers the history, exam, an explanation of what we found and, in most cases, your first treatment. Follow-up visits take 20 to 30 minutes.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothes you can move in, such as leggings or athletic shorts and a T-shirt. You will stay dressed for the whole visit.
Will you take X-rays?
Only when they would change your treatment, for example after a fall or accident, or when certain warning signs are present. Most people do not need them.
